Is Crocs the upcoming shoe company of the 2000’s? Try to find a pair of Crocs and you may be searching all around town.

Today I read that Crocs are taking their shoe business to the next level by launching a new line, called YOU by Crocs.

“YOU by Crocs is the intersection of comfort and fashion and is ideal for the woman looking for high-quality footwear without compromising style or comfort,” said Ron Snyder, CEO of Crocs. “By leveraging the versatility of our Croslite material and our footwear expertise, this line serves as the next step in our contribution to the evolution of the comfort footwear industry.”

Bloggingstocks.com published a blog today mentioning that CROX shares have risen 262% in the past 12 months.

Will the new YOU line be as popular as the Crocs we know and love? Hmm, I don’t guess so. While the Crocs Cayman model, the bright, happy, holey and airy shoe, is popular because of it’s fun, sassy and inexpensive style. I don’t see the big ahh with the YOU line that the Cayman and other similar models have received. Not to mention that the YOU collection retails for $149-$299. The Crocs with the holes are inexpensive, you can buy a pair in every color, to match every outfit. The price being $35.95 at Zappos.com, well let’s get a pair to match every outfit. I don’t see the YOU line, attracting the same type of customers, do you?

Today, I mentioned to someone after I read about Crocs that the shoes remind me of the Jelly Shoes in the 80’s. I remember having a pair in every color when I was poor in college because they were so cheap and sleek.

Most of you are probaly asking, what are Jelly Shoes?? Exactly, that’s what we call in the fashion world, a fad. Sometimes you need to bank on the fad and run.

Can Crocs build a bigger business extending off of their holey shoes? I wish them luck.

I’ll keep you posted when the YOU collection hits the stores.
